Sahiwal: Transgender Person Allegedly Assaulted and Robbed After Birthday Event

SAHIWAL (Ali Raza Sandhu, Reporter Express Media Group) A disturbing incident has surfaced in the suburban village of Nathu Mir Chak Bandi, where a transgender person was allegedly sexually assaulted and robbed following a dance performance organized for an overseas Pakistani’s birthday. Harappa Police have registered a case and apprehended three suspects.

Details of the Incident

According to the FIR, the complainant, a transgender person named Ali Shehzad (alias Shehzadi), and a friend, Irum, were invited to perform at a dance party (Mujra) hosted by suspects Hassan Ali, Ali Hamza Kathia, Ali Hassan Kathia, and Shadi Arain. The event was reportedly held to celebrate the birthday of their friend, an overseas Pakistani.

The performance continued throughout the night. However, when the performers were leaving the venue in their vehicle, the suspects intercepted them.

Assault and Robbery

The suspects allegedly dragged Irum into a nearby field, where the primary suspect, Hassan Ali Kathia, subjected the victim to sexual assault. Furthermore, the culprits looted 78,000 PKR in cash from the vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Police Action and Arrests

Following the complaint lodged by Ali Shehzad, the Harappa Police Station registered a formal case under sections 376 (Punishment for Rape) and 379 (Punishment for Theft) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Taking swift action, the police have already arrested three of the nominated suspects. Raids are ongoing to capture the remaining individuals involved. Sahiwal Police officials have assured that a thorough investigation is underway to ensure justice for the victims.
