Bringing Light Back: Six More Patients Regain Vision in Sahiwal

The Ophthalmology Department of Sahiwal Teaching Hospital has restored the gift of sight to another 6 deserving blind patients.
The patients regained their vision through corneal transplants. Principal Sahiwal Medical College Dr. Muhammad Akhtar Malik and Medical Superintendent Dr. Zulfiqar Haider congratulated the medical team.
Head of Ophthalmology Unit 2, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, stated that the ophthalmology department is formally approved by the Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority for corneal transplants, and this facility is being provided completely free of cost to deserving patients. This surgery normally costs between 2.5 to 3 million rupees.
He especially thanked Dr. Fawad, who resides abroad, whose efforts and full support ensured that the donated corneas from the United States reached Sahiwal safely and on time, making these operations possible.

He further informed that so far 36 patients have benefited from this facility, and he reaffirmed the commitment to continue this service to humanity so that more and more deserving people can be helped.
He appealed to the public that if anyone among their relatives or friends has lost vision due to corneal disease, they should contact the Ophthalmology Department of Sahiwal Teaching Hospital and get registered.
