Tragic End to Parental Dispute: Two Young Brothers Found Dead in Sahiwal

SAHIWAL – A heartbreaking incident has shaken the suburban village of Bashera near Sahiwal, where two young brothers were found dead inside a flour storage trunk following a domestic dispute between their parents.

While the police have taken the children’s mother into custody, the exact cause of death remains a mystery, leaving the local community in deep mourning.

Background of the Incident

According to reports, Muhammad Sarwar, a local laborer, and his wife, Mafia, frequently engaged in domestic arguments. On the evening of the incident, a bitter exchange allegedly took place between the couple. Terrified by the shouting, their two young sons—6-year-old Ali Hassan and 8-year-old Ali Haider—reportedly went into hiding.

The Grinding Discovery

When the children could not be found by late night, the police were notified. During a search of the house, officers discovered the bodies of both brothers inside a large flour trunk. The police immediately took custody of the bodies and shifted them to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

Following the autopsy, the bodies were handed over to the grieving family for burial. The Bahadur Shah Police have detained the mother of five, Mafia, on a suspicious basis for questioning.

Currently, the police have initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, initially treating the matter as an accidental death pending further evidence.

  • Laboratory Analysis: Police officials confirmed that samples from the post-mortem have been dispatched to a laboratory in Lahore for forensic analysis.

  • Formal Charges: A final decision regarding the registration of a formal case (FIR) will be made once the forensic report determines whether the cause of death was suffocation or foul play.

High-Level Oversight

Given the sensitive nature of the case, District Police Officer (DPO) Sahiwal, Muhammad Usman Tippu, visited the police station to personally supervise the inquiry and question the mother. He was accompanied by SDPO Sadar Circle Mazhar Hussain and the SHOs of Bahadur Shah and Noor Shah police stations.

Mauza Bashera incident

The tragic event has sparked a conversation regarding the psychological toll domestic instability takes on children. While the bereaved family mourns the loss of the two siblings, local citizens have acknowledged the prompt and transparent response of the Sahiwal police in handling the investigation.
