Commissioner Visits Gospel Church Sahiwal on Christmas, Extends Greetings

SAHIWAL: Commissioner Sahiwal Division Dr Asif Tufail visited the Gospel Church Sahiwal, on the joyous occasion of Christmas and joined members of the Christian community in their celebrations.

During the visit, the commissioner cut the Christmas cake, exchanged warm greetings, and congratulated the Christian community on the festival. As a special Christmas gift, he also distributed Rs100,000 as Eidi among Christian brothers, a gesture that was warmly appreciated by the community.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Asif Tufail said that minorities are a valuable asset of Pakistan and sharing in their happiness is among the top priorities of the Punjab government. He added that Christmas conveys the message of love, peace, and brotherhood, which is essential for building a harmonious society.

He further stated that the Punjab government is taking practical steps to safeguard minority rights and promote interfaith harmony, and lauded the Christian community for its commendable services in the country’s development and progress.

Regional Police Officer Sahiwal Rana Ayaz Saleem, Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal Captain (Retd) Samiullah Farooq, and District Police Officer Muhammad Usman Tipu were also present during the visit.

A special prayer ceremony was held at the church, where prayers were offered for the security, peace, and prosperity of the country.

Addressing the gathering, Bishop Abraham Azim Daniel said that Pakistan is a shared homeland for followers of all religions, where minorities enjoy complete religious freedom.

Representatives of the Christian community expressed happiness and gratitude to the district administration and the Punjab government for their special support and excellent arrangements on the occasion of Christmas.
