Barani Institute of Sciences Sahiwal Celebrates World Food Day

SAHIWAL (Staff Reporter) — To commemorate World Food Day, the Barani Institute of Sciences (Arid Agriculture University) Sahiwal Campus organized a vibrant Product Development Event. The exhibition showcased the creative and scientific potential of students, focusing on food security and modern nutritional solutions.
The event was graced by distinguished chief guests Dr. Muhammad Ajmal, Head of the Food Technology Department at the Government College of Technology, and Abdul Razaq Khan, Commissioner of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Okara.
Innovation at the Forefront
The Department of Life Sciences took center stage, with students setting up a diverse range of stalls dedicated to product development. The young innovators introduced various new products designed to address nutritional gaps and provide sustainable food options for daily life.
After a thorough inspection of the stalls, the judges awarded first position to the students of the Human Nutrition and Dietetics (HND) Third Semester for their outstanding and well-researched product presentation.
Bridging the Gap Between Theory and Practice
Addressing the students, Dr. Muhammad Ajmal and Abdul Razaq Khan highlighted the necessity of such extracurricular activities.
“Participation in these healthy competitions ensures that students acquire practical skills alongside their academic degrees,” the guests noted. “This hands-on experience is what prevents difficulties when transitioning into the professional field.”

CEO of the Sahiwal Campus, Mian Muhammad Sajid, underscored the global significance of World Food Day. He stated that the primary objective is to ensure food safety and universal access to nutritious meals.
