Anti-Corruption Sahiwal Caught Secretary Union Council Red-Handed Accepting Bribe

In line with the Government of Punjab’s “Corruption-Free Punjab” initiative, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Sahiwal conducted a successful raid, arresting a Union Council Secretary for accepting a bribe.
The Operation
Under the special directives of Director General Anti-Corruption Punjab, Sohail Zafar Chatha, and Regional Director ACE Sahiwal, Basharat Nabi, a team led by Circle Officer Arshad Zaman Wattoo executed the operation. The raid was conducted under the direct supervision of a Magistrate to ensure legal transparency.
Arrest and Recovery
The team apprehended Muhammad Shahid, Secretary of Union Council No. 08 (City Ghalla Mandi, Sahiwal), while he was caught red-handed receiving PKR 10,000 in bribe money. The marked currency notes were recovered from the suspect’s possession on the spot.
Background of the Case
The action was taken on the complaint of a citizen named Abdul Razzaq. According to the complainant, the Secretary had demanded PKR 10,000 as a bribe to issue a birth certificate for the daughter of the complainant’s cousin. Refusing to pay the illegal gratification, the citizen approached the Anti-Corruption authorities.

A spokesperson for ACE Sahiwal confirmed that a formal case has been registered at the Anti-Corruption Police Station, Sahiwal:
