Sahiwal Sports Department Conducts Trials for Table Tennis, Archery and Badminton

SAHIWAL – Following the directives of the Government of Punjab, the Sports Department Sahiwal organized trials for three major sports—Table Tennis, Archery, and Badminton—to select and finalize teams representing the Sahiwal Division.
Trial Outcomes and Selection
The trials saw a high turnout of aspiring athletes from across the region. In the Table Tennis category, the selection process concluded with five female players being chosen for the divisional team. Notably, four of the selected girls are students of DPS School Sahiwal, while one player was selected from Okara.
The selection process was designed to ensure that the most talented athletes represent the division in upcoming provincial competitions.
Supervision and Administration
The entire trial process was conducted under the direct supervision of Divisional Sports Officer Chaudhry Nisar-ul-Haq. To ensure transparency and merit-based selection, specialized focal persons were appointed for each sport:
Badminton: Mahr Aamir Rashid (DSO Sahiwal)
Archery: Ashfaq Ahmed (DSO Okara)
Table Tennis: Muhammad Qayyum Khan (Superintendent)
Commitment to Sports Excellence
Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted that these trials are part of the provincial government’s initiative to promote a culture of sports and identify grassroots talent. The finalized teams are expected to undergo further training to prepare for inter-divisional championships.
The Divisional Sports Officer commended the performance of the athletes and expressed his confidence that the selected players would bring laurels to the Sahiwal Division.
