Sahiwal: The District Education Authority (DEA) Sahiwal has taken serious notice of staff absenteeism after several teachers were found absent during surprise inspections conducted by the Deputy Commissioner/Administrator (DEA) in government schools.
According to official notifications issued by the Office of the Chief Executive Officer, District Education Authority Sahiwal, surprise visits were carried out on January 28, 2026, at various government educational institutions in the district.
During the inspection of Government Girls Model Pilot Secondary School, Sahiwal, conducted at around 08:17 AM, a number of teachers from different cadres were found absent from duty. The absent staff included teachers from SST, EST, PST, PET, and Lab Assistant categories. The matter was termed serious, and the school administration was directed to submit a written explanation and appear for a personal hearing.
In a separate inspection at Government High School (APS), Sahiwal, carried out at approximately 08:30 AM on the same day, four teachers were found absent. Authorities also observed that the attendance register for the concerned teachers had been left blank, which was described as professional negligence on the part of the school administration.
Following these observations, the Chief Executive Officer, DEA Sahiwal, directed the respective head teachers to submit written explanations and appear along with the concerned teachers for a personal hearing scheduled on January 29, 2026, at 03:00 PM, for further proceedings.
Copies of the official notices have been forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner/Administrator DEA Sahiwal and the District Education Officer to ensure compliance.
Education officials emphasized that strict disciplinary action would be taken in accordance with rules if the explanations provided by the concerned officials and teachers were found unsatisfactory. The authority reiterated its commitment to ensuring discipline, punctuality, and proper maintenance of attendance records in government schools across the district.
