Sahiwal District Crime Report: 4,397 Cases Registered in First Quarter of 2026

SAHIWAL – The Sahiwal District Police have released the crime statistics for the first three months of 2026, revealing a challenging law and order situation. According to the official data, a total of 4,397 cases were registered across the district during the first quarter.
Violent Crimes and Unsolved Murders
The report paints a somber picture of public safety, with 17 incidents of murder resulting in 19 fatalities.
One of these cases was classified as an honor killing.
A significant concern for the department remains the 13 “blind murders” (unsolved cases with no immediate leads), which police have yet to trace.
Crimes Against Women and Children
The statistics highlight a disturbing trend in crimes targeting vulnerable populations:
Sexual Violence: 115 cases of rape and 17 cases of gang rape were reported.
Abduction: 50 cases involved the kidnapping of women and girls, while 20 cases involved the kidnapping of children and young men.
Child Abuse: There were 6 reported cases of sodomy and 16 cases of forced sexual assault against girls.
Kidnapping for Ransom: One case was registered during this period.
Theft, Robbery, and Financial Fraud
Property and financial crimes continue to be a major source of insecurity for residents:
Armed Robbery: 382 cases of general dacoity, 76 robberies, and 80 motorcycle snatchings were recorded.
Theft: 747 cases of general theft, 174 burglaries, and 280 livestock thefts were registered.
Vehicles: Thieves targeted 178 motorcycles, 6 rickshaws, and 1 car.
Financial Fraud: 138 cases of fraudulent checks were reported by citizens.
Traffic Fatalities and Minor Offenses
Road safety remains a critical issue, with 20 serious traffic accidents resulting in:
27 deaths
36 severe injuries
Additionally, the police cracked down on minor crimes, registering 134 cases of electricity theft, 139 for kite flying, and 42 for gambling.
Police Operations and Resistance
Law enforcement encountered significant pushback during their operations. The report notes:
25 police encounters took place.
8 cases of resistance and 25 cases of assault on government officials were registered.
Contraband Seizures: Police filed 376 cases for drug trafficking, 250 for illegal weapons, and 68 for the public display of arms.
Official Outlook: While the police have made numerous arrests in drug and weapon-related cases, district authorities admit that resolving the “blind murder” cases and curbing street crime remain the primary hurdles for the remainder of the year. Patrolling has been intensified in high-risk zones to regain public confidence.
