ADSJ Tariq Mehmood Rana Visits Sahiwal Central Jail; Orders Release of 12 Prisoners

SAHIWAL (January 16, 2026) – Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Sahiwal, Tariq Mehmood Rana, paid an official visit to Central Jail Sahiwal today to inspect the facilities and oversee the welfare of inmates.

Reception and Inspection

Upon his arrival, the honorable judge was received by the Superintendent of Central Jail, Naveed Ashraf, and was presented with a formal Guard of Honor by a smartly turned-out contingent of prison police. He was accompanied during the visit by Magistrate Section 30 Sahiwal, Tauseef Adeel Hassan.

The delegation conducted a thorough inspection of several key areas within the prison, including:

  • The Women’s Ward: To address the specific needs and grievances of female inmates.

  • Juvenile Ward & Central Barracks: To review living conditions and discipline.

  • Jail Hospital: To ensure that adequate medical facilities and treatments are being provided to ailing prisoners.

  • Hifz Class: To observe the religious education and reformatory programs in place.

Review of Food Quality and Welfare

Judge Tariq Mehmood Rana also visited the Prisoners’ Kitchen (Kitchen Asiran), where he personally checked the quality of the food being prepared and the level of hygiene maintained by the staff.

Release of Prisoners

Expressing overall satisfaction with the administrative arrangements and the facilities provided to the inmates, the Additional District and Sessions Judge exercised his judicial authority to provide relief to those held for minor offenses. On humanitarian grounds and after reviewing their cases, he ordered the immediate release of 12 prisoners involved in petty crimes.

The jail administration was instructed to continue maintaining high standards of welfare and to ensure that the legal rights of all inmates are upheld.
