Commissioner Sahiwal Dr. Asif Tufail meets former Olympian Hockey Player Qamar Zia in his office and assured that all necessary resources will be provided to promote local hockey talent.
On this occasion, international hockey player Shehzada Alamgir, RUJ District President Chaudhry Muhammad Najeeb, and Rana Waheed were also present.
He stated that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is paying special attention to the promotion of sports in Punjab. The laying of AstroTurf at Qamar Zia Hockey Stadium in Sahiwal will begin this year.
Former Olympian Qamar Zia suggested that the nursery adjacent to the sports club, which was previously part of the club, should be reintegrated into the ground. He also proposed the construction of a hotel for players at that site.
He recommended building shops at the front of the stadium to generate income that can cover the maintenance costs of the AstroTurf hockey stadium.
Commissioner warned that if funds are not allocated for maintenance, the AstroTurf may deteriorate within three to four years.
