CM Punjab Launches ‘Maryam Ko Batayen’ Relief: Rs. 100/Litre Petrol Subsidy for Bikers

LAHORE (April 4, 2026) – In a landmark move to provide immediate relief against the record-breaking fuel prices, Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has officially launched the “Targeted Fuel Subsidy Program” for motorcycle owners across the province.
The initiative follows a sharp increase in national fuel prices, where petrol recently surged to Rs. 378 per litre. To protect the common man, the Punjab government is now providing a direct discount to low-income commuters.
What the Relief Package Includes
The package is designed to provide both immediate savings at the pump and direct financial assistance:
Fuel Subsidy: Registered motorcycle owners will receive a Rs. 100 per litre subsidy on up to 20 litres of petrol every month.
Direct Cash Assistance: A monthly financial support of Rs. 2,000 will be disbursed to eligible individuals in Sindh.
Free Vehicle Services: To ensure everyone can benefit, the Chief Minister has waived all fees for motorcycle registration and ownership transfers across Punjab. This allows riders to bring vehicles into their own names without any cost.
How to Apply for the Subsidy
The Punjab government has opened three easy registration channels starting today, April 4, 2026:
Helpline 1000: Call 1000 from your mobile to speak with a representative and register your CNIC and bike details.
‘Maryam Ko Batayen’ App: Download the official app (developed by PITB) from the Google Play Store to track your quota and apply for the grant.
Online Portal: Visit the official website mkb.punjab.gov.pk to check eligibility and register.
Eligibility Criteria
To ensure the relief reaches those who need it most, the following rules apply:
Vehicle Ownership: The motorcycle must be registered under the applicant’s CNIC. (Use the free transfer service if your bike is still in the previous owner’s name).
Mobile Verification: The mobile SIM used for registration must be issued against the same CNIC.
Income Bracket: The program targets individuals with a monthly income under Rs. 60,000, with data cross-referenced through NADRA and BISP.
Free Public Transport for 30 Days
As an additional relief measure, the Chief Minister also announced that travel on the Orange Line Metro Train, Metro Bus, and Speedo Bus services will be completely free for all citizens for the next 30 days.
“This is a targeted effort to ensure that the hardworking people of Punjab are not crushed by global inflation,” CM Maryam Nawaz stated during the launch.
Citizens are showing mixed reactions to these measures. Due to low digital literacy, deserving individuals are facing difficulties in accessing these facilities. Additionally, there are thousands of people who do not even have access to smartphones or the internet. In such circumstances, these government initiatives seem like nothing more than a joke.
