Brother Murders Elder Sibling Over Family Dispute in Malka Hans

PAKPATTAN – A horrific incident of fratricide has shaken the Malka Hans area of Pakpattan, where a younger brother brutally murdered his elder sibling following a long-standing domestic dispute rooted in traditional marriage customs.
The Roots of the Conflict
According to reports, the victim, identified as Mohammad Zafar, lived in a joint family system in Mohalla Mehr Shah with his brothers. The conflict traces back to a Watta Satta (exchange marriage) arrangement.
The Arrangement: Zafar was married to a woman named Kishwar. In exchange, Zafar’s sister, Sajida, was married to Kishwar’s brother, Aamir Sohail.
The Catalyst: Three years ago, Aamir divorced Sajida, forcing her to return to her brothers’ home.
Following the divorce, Zafar’s younger brother, Arshad, began mounting immense pressure on Zafar to divorce Kishwar as an act of “revenge.” Zafar consistently refused, maintaining that he had a happy life with his wife and children and saw no reason to end his marriage over a dispute involving others.
A Violent Escalation
The situation reached a breaking point last Saturday when Kishwar’s father arrived at the house to visit his daughter and grandchildren.
Infuriated by the presence of his sister’s former in-laws, Arshad demanded that the father-in-law leave immediately. A heated argument ensued between the brothers. In a fit of rage, Arshad attacked Zafar with a heavy iron hook, repeatedly striking him in the chest and abdomen.
Despite the frantic efforts of their other brother, Ansar, and their father-in-law to intervene, Arshad continued the assault before fleeing the scene.
Legal Action and Investigation
Zafar was rushed to the DHQ Hospital Pakpattan in a private vehicle. However, due to the severity of his internal injuries, he succumbed to his wounds shortly after arrival.
“The suspect’s refusal to accept his brother’s domestic peace led to this tragedy. We are utilizing all resources to ensure justice for the victim’s family,” stated a local police official.
Current Status:
Case Registered: Police have filed a murder case against Arshad on the complaint of the victim’s widow, Kishwar.
Manhunt: Police teams are currently conducting raids to apprehend the suspect, who remains at large.
