Commissioner Sahiwal Orders Uninterrupted Crackdown on Illegal Housing Societies

SAHIWAL (Staff Reporter) Commissioner Sahiwal Division, Dr. Asif Tufail, has directed authorities to continue indiscriminate operations against illegal housing societies. He emphasized that all unauthorized colonies must be blocked immediately to protect citizens from fraud and financial exploitation.

High-Level Review Meeting

The Commissioner issued these directives while presiding over a review meeting held at his office to assess the progress of actions taken against illegal housing schemes. The meeting was attended by key administrative officials, including:

  • Deputy Commissioner: Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq

  • MD WASA: Tanveer Qaiser Sandhu

  • Director Local Government: Shahid Farooq Waraich

  • Chief Officer Municipal Corporation: Sheikh Ashfaq Ahmed

  • AC Sahiwal: Maham Waheed

  • Officials from the Planning Branch of the Municipal Corporation.

Zero Tolerance for Illegal Constructions

During the session, Dr. Asif Tufail stated that the establishment of illegal housing schemes will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He instructed relevant departments to enhance mutual cooperation to ensure a robust and effective crackdown.

He further directed that the administrative machinery should take proactive steps to halt the sale and purchase of plots in societies that lack the necessary legal approvals and No Objection Certificates (NOCs).

Public Advisory for Citizens

Commissioner Sahiwal also urged the general public to be vigilant and cautious with their investments.

“Citizens must verify the legal status of any colony from the relevant departments before purchasing a plot or property to avoid falling victim to fraudulent developers,” he advised.

The administration has reiterated its commitment to upholding urban planning laws and ensuring that the rights of the public are safeguarded from the “land mafia.”
