Crackdown Intensifies Against Illegal Cigarette Sellers in Chichawatni

Sahiwal – Chichawatni administration has accelerated its campaign against the sale of illegal and non-tax-paid cigarettes, following directives from the Punjab government.

Large-Scale Raids Across the Tehsil

In this regard, Assistant Commissioner Javed Mumtaz Lakhwera led a major enforcement operation along with Para Force Enforcement Officer Mohsin Iqbal and their team. Raids were conducted at multiple locations across the tehsil, targeting shops suspected of selling illicit tobacco products.

Details of the Operation

Under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner, teams inspected pan shops, grocery stores, and wholesale dealers in different parts of the city. During the कार्रवाई:

  • A large quantity of illegal and non-tax-paid cigarettes was recovered and confiscated.
  • Heavy fines were imposed on shopkeepers found violating regulations.
  • Several cases were registered against offenders for further legal action.

Zero-Tolerance Policy

Speaking to the media, Assistant Commissioner Javed Mumtaz Lakhwera emphasized that no leniency would be shown to those endangering public health and causing losses to the national exchequer.

“Illegal businesses and the sale of smuggled goods will not be tolerated under any circumstances. This campaign will continue until illegal cigarettes are completely eradicated from the tehsil,” he stated.

Warning to Traders

The administration has issued a strict warning to the business community, urging them to ensure the sale of only legal and tax-paid products. Authorities cautioned that strict legal action—including sealing of shops and arrests—will be taken against violators.

Officials reaffirmed that the crackdown is part of an ongoing effort to curb illegal trade, protect public health, and ensure compliance with tax laws. More inspections and operations are expected in the coming days.
