Rescue 1122 Launches ‘Free Funeral Ambulance Service’ in Sahiwal

SAHIWAL (Bureau Report) — Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal, Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq, has stated that providing basic amenities to the public is the top priority of the Punjab government. He emphasized that the Rescue 1122 funeral ambulance service is a crucial step toward providing immediate and dignified assistance to citizens in their times of grief.
He expressed these views while addressing the formal inauguration ceremony of the Rescue 1122 Funeral Ambulance Service held at the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital.

The prestigious ceremony was attended by prominent figures and key officials of Sahiwal, including:

Public Welfare and the CM Punjab’s Vision
Speaking at the event, Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq said:
“The dignified and timely transportation of a deceased person is a sensitive humanitarian need. Launching a completely free service for this purpose is a highly commendable initiative.”
He further added that in line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, public welfare projects are being made more effective to ensure that basic facilities are delivered directly to the citizens’ doorsteps.
Service Procedure and Details
Briefing the attendees on the objectives and scope of the project, District Emergency Officer Dr. Khalid Abdullah shared key details:
100% Free Service: This funeral transportation service will be available 24/7 across the entire district absolutely free of cost.
How to Access: Citizens can call the emergency helpline 1122 at any time to avail of this service.
Initial Phase: In the first phase, one dedicated ambulance each has been deployed for Tehsil Sahiwal and Tehsil Chichawatni. The fleet will be expanded in the future based on demand.
Inspection of Vehicles
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq conducted a detailed inspection of the specialized funeral ambulances. He praised the facilities provided within the vehicles and termed the initiative a major milestone in public service.
