In a heartbreaking incident in Sahiwal, an elderly citizen, distressed by financial hardships and prolonged illness, died by suicide after jumping in front of the Allama Iqbal Express.

Details of the Tragic Incident

According to police and eyewitnesses, the deceased, identified as Waseem, a resident of the suburban village 89/6R, had been struggling with severe distress for a long period. On the day of the incident, he reached the railway tracks and jumped in front of the fast-moving Allama Iqbal Express. He passed away on the spot due to the impact.

A Heart-Wrenching Suicide Note

A suicide note was recovered from the scene, leaving onlookers in tears. In the note, Waseem did not hold any individual responsible for his death but detailed his internal struggle:

“I am exhausted by the rising inflation, unfavorable domestic conditions, and my prolonged illness. I no longer have the strength to fight anymore.”

Rescue and Legal Proceedings

Upon receiving the alert, Rescue 1122 teams arrived at the scene and shifted the body to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital for necessary formalities. Following a post-mortem examination, the remains will be handed over to the grieving family for burial.
