Director Agriculture Sahiwal Visits Chichawatni; Unveils Action Plan for Cotton Sowing 2026

CHICHAWATNI – In a move to boost regional crop yields, Director of Agriculture (Extension) Sahiwal, Chaudhry Shahbaz Akhtar, conducted an official visit to Tehsil Chichawatni to review field activities and finalize the strategy for the upcoming agricultural cycle.

Accompanying him was Deputy Director of Agriculture (Extension), Dr. Tahir Javed, as they met with field staff and interns to evaluate the current status of various crops and departmental performance.

Review of Current Crop Progress

During a detailed review meeting, the Director assessed the health and harvesting progress of several key crops. The discussion centered on:

  • Wheat & Oilseeds: Monitoring the growth stages and ensuring optimal conditions for the current season.

  • Potato Harvesting: Evaluating the progress of the ongoing potato harvest and its transition to the market.

  • Field Support: Ensuring that the department’s technical experts are providing consistent on-ground support to local growers.

The “Cotton Sowing Mission 2026” Action Plan

A major highlight of the visit was the presentation of a comprehensive action plan for the Early Cotton Sowing Campaign 2026. Assistant Director of Agriculture (Extension) Chichawatni, Muhammad Irfan Shad, detailed the roadmap designed to maximize cotton acreage.

The Action Plan includes:

  1. Localized Targets: Specific production and sowing goals set at the Markaz and Union Council levels.

  2. Farmer Engagement: A multi-tiered outreach strategy involving “Mega Farmer Gatherings” and “Smart Farmer Gatherings” to disseminate modern farming techniques.

  3. Individual Consultations: A robust door-to-door campaign to provide customized advice to small-scale farmers.

Directives for Field Staff

Chaudhry Shahbaz Akhtar issued strict instructions to the field teams to accelerate their efforts as the 2026 sowing season approaches.
