Ceremony held under “Dhee Rani Program” in Sahiwal

Sahiwal (Staff Reporter) – Under the “Dhee Rani Program” initiated by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a grand ceremony was held in Sahiwal where 134 couples tied the knot.

Among the newlywed couples were two from the Christian community and one special (disabled) couple. The event was graced by Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal, Suhail Shaukat Butt, as the chief guest, while Member of Punjab Assembly Muhammad Arshad Malik, Director Development Shafiq Ahmed Dogar, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Niaz Ahmed Mughal, Director Social Welfare Asma Noreen, and Deputy Director Muhammad Abbas Chauhan were also present.

Each newlywed couple was presented with a gift of PKR 200,000 from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz as a token of support and goodwill.

Addressing the ceremony, Provincial Minister Suhail Shaukat Butt congratulated the newlywed couples on behalf of the Chief Minister and said, “The ‘Dhee Rani Program’ is a historic and revolutionary initiative aimed at supporting underprivileged families and empowering daughters in Punjab.”

He stated that the program was launched to turn the dreams of daughters into reality. While previous governments made promises, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took practical steps, and the Dhee Rani Program is a living testament to this commitment.

He further said that, for the first time in Punjab’s history, such a large-scale welfare initiative has been launched so that poor parents can fulfill their religious and social responsibilities in arranging their daughters’ marriages. “If you want to see a practical model of a welfare state like Medina, look at the Dhee Rani Program,” he added.

The provincial minister assured that the mission of public service under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership will continue with the same dedication and compassion.

On this occasion, MPA Muhammad Arshad Malik also congratulated the newlywed couples and praised Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s transformative initiatives in education, health, and social welfare, including the Dhee Rani Program.

He further appreciated Provincial Minister Suhail Shaukat Butt and the Sahiwal Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal team for their merit, transparency, and commitment to providing effective services.
