DG Agriculture Punjab Chaudhry Abdul Hameed Undertakes Key Visit to Sahiwal

SAHIWAL (Special Correspondent): Director General of Agriculture (Extension) Punjab, Chaudhry Abdul Hameed, conducted a detailed visit to the Sahiwal district, where he chaired a high-level meeting with the officers and field staff of the Agriculture (Extension) Department.

The meeting featured a comprehensive review of cotton crop monitoring, the physical verification of the Green Tractor Scheme, Kissan Card recoveries, and other ongoing agricultural initiatives. The Director General expressed overall satisfaction with the progress of these departmental activities.

On-Site Inspection of Cotton Crops

Immediately following the meeting, DG Agriculture Punjab Chaudhry Abdul Hameed visited Kameer 120/9L to inspect the cotton crop on-site. He was accompanied by:

  • Chaudhry Shahbaz Akhtar (Director of Agriculture)

  • Dr. Tahir Javed (Deputy Director)

  • Dr. Muhammad Aslam (Assistant Director)

  • Irfan Shad, alongside other dedicated field staff.

During his field visit, the DG meticulously assessed the overall health of the crop, the pest situation, and the environmental impacts caused by recent rains and extreme heatwaves. He also interacted directly with local farmers to listen to their grievances and suggestions, engaging in detailed discussions regarding potential risks in the wake of recent weather challenges.

Satisfactory Outlook and Economic Growth

Speaking to the media after the inspection, Chaudhry Abdul Hameed stated that the overall condition of the cotton crop in Sahiwal is highly satisfactory. He noted that the crop is healthy and, encouragingly, free from any large-scale pest infestations.

Lauding the performance of the Agriculture (Extension) field staff, the DG expressed optimism that the department’s round-the-clock guidance, combined with the tireless hard work of the farmers and favorable weather conditions, would yield a bumper cotton crop this season. He concluded that a better harvest would not only boost farmers’ incomes but also provide much-needed stability to the national agricultural economy.
