Provision of Quality Healthcare is Government’s Top Priority: Commissioner Sahiwal

SAHIWAL (January 02, 2026) – Commissioner Sahiwal Division, Dr. Asif Tufail, has stated that providing the best medical facilities to citizens is the foremost priority of the current government. He emphasized that millions of rupees are being spent across the province to upgrade hospitals and improve public healthcare infrastructure.
These remarks were made during his visit to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital, where he presided over a high-level meeting at the Medical Superintendent’s (MS) office. The meeting was attended by the Principal of Sahiwal Medical College, Dr. Muhammad Akhtar, Medical Superintendent Dr. Khalid Khan, and various departmental heads.
Comprehensive Review of Operations
During the meeting, the Commissioner conducted a detailed review of:
The availability of life-saving medicines.
Overall administrative affairs and staff attendance.
The quality of medical treatment being provided to the public.
The Principal of the Medical College provided a comprehensive briefing regarding the hospital’s current capacity, stock of medicines, and the performance of the clinical staff.
Inspection of Wards and Patient Interaction
Following the meeting, Commissioner Dr. Asif Tufail visited the Emergency and Gynae Wards. During the inspection:
He interacted with patients and their attendants to inquire about the quality of services and whether they were facing any difficulties.
He reviewed the Duty Roster displayed on the electric LCD screens to ensure the presence of doctors on their assigned shifts.
He issued on-the-spot instructions to duty doctors to perform their duties with honesty, dedication, and a high sense of responsibility.
Commitment to Reforms
The Commissioner highlighted that the Punjab Government is investing billions of rupees in the health sector to ensure timely and quality treatment for the common man.
“No negligence will be tolerated regarding the transparent use of government resources and the provision of facilities to patients,” Dr. Tufail warned.
He further directed the hospital management to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and ensure the constant availability of medicines to further strengthen public trust in government healthcare institutions.
