Chaos at Central Jail Sahiwal: Inmate Accused of Murder Issues Death Threats to Jail Warder

SAHIWAL – Tension gripped Central Jail Sahiwal after a high-profile inmate, currently facing charges of murder and robbery, reportedly incited a riot and issued death threats to a jail official. Local police have registered a fresh case against the suspect following the brazen confrontation within the prison walls.
Background of the Case
The suspect, identified as Ali Asad Ansari, has been in judicial remand since December 14, 2023. He was arrested in connection with a violent robbery that occurred on the evening of March 6, 2023.
According to case files, Jail Warder Sibtain, a resident of Mauza Galoti, was returning home after his shift when two armed robbers intercepted him. During the mugging, Sibtain was shot and killed for his mobile phone. Following the incident, Bahadur Shah Police registered a case under Sections 302 (Murder) and 392 (Robbery) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Advocate Taqdeen Fareed.
The Prison Confrontation
The latest incident unfolded on January 8, when Ansari reportedly became aggressive with prison staff, creating a disturbance inside the facility.
The situation escalated when Aamir Sattar, the Warder In-charge of Security Ward No. 1, attempted to escort the inmate to senior prison officials for disciplinary proceedings. Eyewitnesses state that Ansari became enraged and openly threatened the official.
“If you testify against me, I will kill you and take the burden of another murder upon myself,” the suspect reportedly shouted at Warder Sattar.
Legal Action Taken
The blatant threat against a government official on duty prompted immediate action from the prison administration. On the complaint of Sheikh Ahmad, Deputy Superintendent of Central Jail (Executive), the Civil Lines Police Station has registered a new FIR against Ali Asad Ansari.
The charges filed include:
Section 186 PPC: Obstructing a public servant in discharge of public functions.
Section 506 PPC: Punishment for criminal intimidation.
Police authorities have confirmed that an investigation into the new charges has commenced, and security protocols within the high-security ward have been further tightened to prevent future outbursts.
