ADC Sahiwal Chairs Meeting for Persons with Disabilities

SAHIWAL: Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), Captain (R) Usama Majeed Cheema, chaired a crucial meeting of the District Welfare and Rehabilitation Unit to review and approve the provision of assistive devices for persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Empowering Special Citizens

During the session, the committee meticulously reviewed applications and approved cases for the distribution of essential medical and mobility aids. The approved items include:

  • Wheelchairs for mobility.

  • Crutches and walking aids.

  • Hearing Aids for the hearing impaired.

  • Other essential assistive technologies to facilitate daily life.

Inclusion in the Social Fabric

Addressing the participants, Captain (R) Usama Majeed Cheema emphasized that the Punjab government’s primary goal is to empower individuals facing physical challenges and integrate them as productive members of society.

“No one’s physical disability should become a barrier to their natural abilities. The government is utilizing all available resources to ensure that every citizen, regardless of their physical state, has the opportunity to thrive,” stated the ADC Revenue.

Collaborative Efforts and Future Strategy

The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Social Welfare Muhammad Abbas, renowned social activist Dr. Mujtaba Jamal, and officers from various relevant departments. The attendees provided expert suggestions to streamline the facilitation process for deserving individuals.

Beyond the immediate approval of cases, the committee also discussed a comprehensive future plan of action. This includes expanding the outreach of the assistance program to ensure that no deserving person in the district is left without support.

The ADC directed the Social Welfare Department to ensure that the distribution of these devices is carried out with complete transparency and that the aid reaches the doorstep of those who genuinely deserve it.
