Pakpattan: Brothers Kill Younger Sibling Over Property Dispute

PAKPATTAN (Sahiwal News – Muhammad Inam): In a tragic incident stemming from a long-standing family property dispute, three real brothers, with the help of an accomplice, shot dead their younger brother in Arazai Jhajal Bhaag area of tehsil Pakpattan.

According to reports, the deceased, Zafar Hussain, had recently lodged an online complaint on the Chief Minister’s Portal against the alleged illegal occupation of his ancestral agricultural land. However, he did not receive relief through the portal and was advised to approach the relevant department instead.

After Zafar Hussain filed the online complaint, his brothers allegedly became enraged. The dispute had been ongoing for the past four years following the death of their father, Allah Yar.

Zafar accused his brothers — Altaf, Nasrullah and Sanaullah — of forcibly seizing his share of the land and leasing it out to a local contractor, Sardar. He initially attempted to resolve the matter through a local Panchayat, but the dispute remained unresolved.

Local residents stated that about three months ago, the brothers had also publicly assaulted Zafar, but he was rescued by people present at the scene. Following the incident, Zafar formally pursued his complaint through official channels.

On the day of the incident, Zafar was returning home on a motorcycle with his wife, Tahira Bibi, after following up on the case when his armed brothers and the contractor intercepted them on the way.

Tahira Bibi told Saddar Pakpattan police that after a heated exchange of words, the accused opened fire. Zafar sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen, chest and legs from pistols and rifles and died on the spot. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Saddar Pakpattan police conducted forensic examinations at the crime scene and shifted the body to DHQ Hospital, Pakpattan, for post-mortem examination.

A murder case (FIR No. 2049/25) has been registered on the complaint of Tahira Bibi. Police have arrested the prime accused, Altaf, while Nasrullah, Sanaullah and contractor Sardar are still at large.

District Police Officer Javed Chadhar has directed police teams to ensure the early arrest of the remaining suspects. Meanwhile, local residents expressed concern that weak laws and slow, complicated judicial processes often leave poor and vulnerable families without timely justice in such cases.
