Donald Trump praises General Asim Munir at White House
Following the meeting, President Trump stated that they also discussed Iran.

U.S. President Donald Trump has said that he invited Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, to the White House to thank him for helping prevent a war between Pakistan and India.
He made these remarks while speaking to reporters after meeting with Pakistan’s Army Chief and Field Marshal, General Asim Munir.
Following the meeting, President Trump stated that they also discussed Iran, saying, “He (General Munir) knows Iran very well — perhaps better than others — and he is not happy with the current situation.”
It is worth noting that President Trump hosted a luncheon in honor of General Asim Munir today at the Cabinet Room of the White House.
After the meal, speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, he said that General Asim Munir played a significant role in preventing a (Pakistan-India) war and added, “I consider it an honor to have met Pakistan’s Army Chief, Asim Munir.”
The U.S. President also mentioned that he had met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few weeks ago.
Trump further said that both Pakistan and India are major nuclear powers, and a nuclear war could have broken out between them — but “two wise men chose to stop the war.”
