Traffic Police Sahiwal is continuing a special campaign to protect citizens from fatal accidents and to raise awareness about traffic safety.
The campaign includes the issuance of driving licenses, enforcement of traffic laws, and provision of traffic education.
Since April 1, over a period of two and a half months, Sahiwal Traffic Police have issued 42,484 driving licenses, compared to only 11,902 licenses issued during the same period last year — a 257% increase.
This was stated by DSP Traffic Sahiwal, Mirza Tanveer Baig, during a meeting of the District Coordination Committee held at Montgomery Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mahmood.
He further informed that the issuance of licenses in various categories generated more than Rs. 38.874 million in revenue — a record figure.
He also shared that during the same period, over 26,000 traffic violation tickets were issued, resulting in Rs. 24.364 million in fines collected.
DSP Traffic Mirza Tanveer Baig added that training at the driving school operated by the Traffic Police is also progressing successfully, with 387 individuals enrolled over the last two and a half months to ensure they learn to drive in accordance with traffic laws.
He urged the public to strictly follow traffic rules for their own safety and to help reduce the rate of accidents.
