Sahiwal: 12 Students Booked for Attacking Bus Driver

KAMEER (Sahiwal News): The Kameer Police have booked 12 students following a violent attack on a passenger bus near Chak 115/9-L on the Sahiwal-Arifwala Road. The group of approximately 15 enraged youths reportedly intercepted the vehicle, assaulted the staff, and escaped with a large sum of cash.

Details of the Incident

According to reports, the attackers blocked the road to force the Chishtian-bound bus, traveling from Lahore, to a halt. Armed with sticks and clubs, the youths smashed the bus windows, causing significant damage. The suspects then dragged the driver, identified as Muhammad Afzal, and the conductor out of the vehicle, subjecting them to severe physical torture. Before fleeing the scene, the attackers allegedly snatched Rs 183,000 from the bus staff.

Police Investigation and Arrests

Preliminary police investigations suggest that the violent outburst was triggered by a dispute that occurred a few days prior. It is alleged that the bus staff had insulted some students during an argument over fares.

Acting on a complaint filed by the bus service manager, Azhar Hussain, the police registered a formal case. So far, two suspects—identified as Mubashir Joya and Munawar Bhatti—have been arrested. Police officials stated that raids are currently underway to apprehend the remaining students involved in the assault.
