Punjab Budget for Education: 15 billion allocated for scholarships

The Punjab budget proposals include a 10% increase in the salaries of Punjab government employees.

Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman stated during the Punjab budget speech that under the “Honahar Scholarship Program,” scholarships worth 15 billion rupees will be provided to students.

He added that 15.1 billion rupees have been allocated for the laptop program in the Punjab budget.

He said that children are being provided with quality education. The education budget has been set at 148 billion rupees, which is 127% higher than the previous budget. The health budget has been set at 181 billion rupees, 131% higher than the current fiscal year, while the development budget is 47% higher than the current year.

The budget proposals include a 10% increase in the salaries of Punjab government employees and a 5% increase in the pensions of retired government employees. It has also been proposed to raise the minimum monthly wage from 37,000 to 40,000 rupees.
