SAHIWAL: An incident of burglary was reported at the National Bank branch located in the Grain Market area of Sahiwal, where unidentified burglars vandalized the ATM machine and fled after stealing office equipment.
According to details, the incident occurred late last night when burglars broke into the National Bank Grain Market branch by smashing the ATM machine and gaining entry into the hall. The suspects broke grills and doors and attempted to break open the ATM’s cash box but failed to access the cash. However, the ATM machine was completely destroyed during the attempt.
The burglars also broke open drawers of office desks and fled with the LCD of CCTV cameras and other materials.
Sahiwal Police Station Grain Market has registered a case under sections 380 and 457 PPC on the complaint of Ali Talha, Operations Manager of the bank. No suspects have been traced so far. Initial estimates put the financial loss at approximately Rs 3.2 million.
Following the incident, the bank administration suspended two security guards for negligence, while a team from the regional office reached the site and initiated an inquiry into the matter.
