To respond promptly and effectively to potential flood situations during the monsoon rains, a flood mock exercise was conducted under the supervision of the district administration at the Lower Bari Doab Canal.
The purpose of the mock exercise was to test and improve coordination, preparedness, and response among the relevant departments in emergency situations. Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mahmood, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Osama Majid Cheema and Assistant Commissioner Sahiwal Rana Aurangzeb, visited the site of the exercise and reviewed the ongoing activities.
On this occasion, he also inspected the stalls set up by various departments, including Rescue 1122, the Health Department, Civil Defense, Local Government, Livestock, Irrigation Department, Agriculture Department, and others.
Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mahmood stated that such exercises at the district level are extremely important to minimize the potential loss of human lives and property in any emergency.
He instructed all departments to finalize their preparations, ensure the availability of necessary equipment, and strengthen communication channels. He emphasized that officials should alert the local population in advance through awareness campaigns about floods and adopt a comprehensive strategy to deal with possible threats.
Various practical steps were demonstrated during the exercise, including potential evacuation, rescue operations, first aid, and the establishment of relief camps.
