Sahiwal: Lady police constable tortured by husband and in-laws for refusing to hand over salary

SAHIWAL: A woman police head constable was subjected to torture by her husband, father-in-law, and brother-in-law for refusing to include her salary in monthly household expenses in W-Block, Scheme No. 3.

On the complaint of the affected lady police officer, Samar Amjad, Farid Town Police registered a case against her husband Zeeshan Ali, his father Shaukat Ali, and brother Arslan Ali under sections 380, 506, 354, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to details, the victim Samar Amjad is employed in an intelligence-based civil institution. She was married to Zeeshan Ali, who had been living abroad for employment purposes, while Samar Amjad resided with her in-laws in Sahiwal.

A few weeks ago, Zeeshan Ali returned to Pakistan, after which his father and brother accused Samar Amjad of not contributing her salary toward household expenses. The dispute escalated within the household, and when Samar Amjad refused to hand over her income, her husband, father-in-law, and brother-in-law allegedly restrained her and subjected her to severe torture.

The accused also allegedly took Samar Amjad’s ATM card and gold jewelry kept in a cupboard. Initially, the victim remained silent; however, on Monday she formally submitted an application at Farid Town Police Station, leading to the registration of the case.

Police stated that Arslan Ali has been arrested, while Zeeshan Ali and Shaukat Ali are still at large, and raids are being conducted to arrest them.
