CHICHAWATNI (News Desk): In a fierce encounter between the Sadar Chichawatni Police and armed criminals, two inter-district robbers were arrested in injured condition, while a police constable also sustained injuries during the crossfire.
Incident Summary
According to the police spokesperson, a 15-emergency call reported that four armed dacoits were positioned near the 38/12-L Bridge, planning a robbery. A police team, led by SHO Saddar Mudassar Ghaffar, arrived at the scene. Upon seeing the police, the suspects opened indiscriminate fire. Despite warnings and aerial firing by the police to surrender, the criminals continued their assault.
Casualties and Arrests
Once the firing subsided, a search operation revealed that Constable Khizar (755/C) had been wounded. Additionally, two suspects were found injured by their own accomplices’ firing. The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Zahid s/o Azam (Resident of 114/12-L)
Umar s/o Sarwar (Resident of Mian Channu)
Preliminary records show that both suspects are habitual criminals involved in various cases of robbery and theft across different districts.
Official Response
DPO Sahiwal Muhammad Usman Tippu lauded the bravery of the police team and directed hospital authorities to provide the best possible medical care to the injured constable. “Sahiwal Police remains vigilant against criminal elements. Protecting the lives and property of our citizens is our top priority,” the DPO stated.
