Two Arrested in Chichawatni for Assaulting Traffic Officer Over Fine

CHICHAWATNI – Two individuals were arrested by the City Police after they allegedly assaulted a traffic officer, tore his uniform, and damaged government property following a routine traffic stop.

Incident Overview

The confrontation occurred within the jurisdiction of the City Chichawatni Police Station. Head Constable Shaukat Ali was performing his duties near Village 110/7-R when he intercepted a motorcycle (Registration No. SLL 5283) carrying two riders for traveling without helmets or valid driving licenses.

The suspects have been identified as Muhammad Boota, son of Ghulam Muhammad, and Muhammad Shahzad, son of Faqir Hussain. The duo was reportedly traveling from the city back to their village when they were stopped.

Assault and Property Damage

According to police reports, the situation escalated rapidly when Head Constable Shaukat Ali initiated legal proceedings to issue a fine (challan). Outraged by the penalty, the suspects reportedly turned violent.

  • Physical Assault: The suspects engaged in a scuffle with the officer and forcibly tore his official uniform.

  • Property Damage: During the struggle, the officer’s official wireless communication set fell to the ground and was destroyed.

  • Threats: The suspects allegedly issued death threats to the officer during the altercation.

Chichawatni Police Action

Upon receiving a distress signal, a team from the City Police Station rushed to the scene and apprehended both suspects in the act.

The police have registered a formal case against the accused. They face multiple charges, including:

  2. Assaulting a public servant on duty.

  3. Damage to government property.

Both suspects are currently in custody as the investigation continues.
