SHERGARH (Correspondent) In a chilling incident of targeted killing, a 50-year-old man who recently returned home after serving a life sentence was gunned down by two unidentified assailants in broad daylight. The police have registered a case and initiated a high-level investigation into the murder.
The Incident
According to the reports, Gulshan (alias Khichi), son of Dara and a resident of 26/1-AL, Shergarh, was traveling on his motorcycle. As he reached near 20-DK, two armed motorcyclists intercepted him. The attackers opened fire using a .30-bore pistol, hitting Gulshan three times in various parts of his body. The victim died on the spot, while the perpetrators managed to flee the scene unchallenged.
Rapid Response and Investigation
Upon receiving the alert, a heavy contingent of law enforcement arrived at the site, including:
SP Investigation and DSP In-charge CCD Okara, Mehar Muhammad Yousaf.
SHO Shergarh, Jehanzeb Hakim.
Teams from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) and Rescue 1122.
Forensic experts and intelligence officers collected evidence from the crime scene to trace the killers.
Criminal Record and Motive
Initial police findings reveal that Gulshan Khichi was a habitual offender with a significant criminal history:
He had recently been released from prison after serving 20 years for a murder conviction.
In addition to the murder case, he had over 20 other criminal cases registered against him.
Police officials suspect that the killing is a “tit-for-tat” murder linked to his previous enmity, though they emphasized that it is too early to confirm the exact motive.
Official Statement
The DPO Okara stated that the police are examining the case from all possible angles.
“We are conducting the investigation on merit, utilizing all available forensic and situational evidence to ensure the facts come to light and justice is served,” the DPO added.
