Sahiwal, Chichawatni Witness Record Surge in Burglaries and Robberies

Sahiwal (Crime Reporter): A sharp and alarming increase in incidents of burglary and robbery has been reported over the past few days across Sahiwal and Chichawatni, causing growing concern among residents.
According to police sources, multiple incidents of house-breaking, theft, and street crime have occurred within the jurisdictions of several police stations, including Ghala Mandi, City Sahiwal, Farid Town, Yousaf Wala, Kamir, Harappa, Bahadar Shah, Saddar Chichawatni, Okara Bangla, and Kassowal.
During these incidents, criminals targeted commission agents, shopkeepers, farmers, traders, a stenographer, and a lawyer. The suspects reportedly made off with cash, gold jewelry, four motorcycles, six mobile phones, and other valuables worth approximately Rs 9.402 million.
Among the reported cases:
- In Ghala Mandi, commission agent Muazzam Ali was robbed of a mobile phone and Rs 230,000 in cash.
- In Chak 133/9-L, burglars stole a motorcycle, cash, and jewelry worth Rs 735,000 from the house of Abid Ali.
- In Chak 134/9-L, Azhar Khan lost a motorcycle, mobile phone, and Rs 171,000 in cash.
- In Wakeel Colony, jewelry worth Rs 800,000 was stolen from the house of Muhammad Ikram.
- Wasif Ali was robbed of a mobile phone and Rs 110,000 near Civil Hospital while returning after his son’s medical check-up.
- In Chak 183/9-L, shopkeeper Usman Manzoor lost Rs 472,000 in cash and grocery items.
- In Chak 45/5-L, Rs 210,000 in cash and clothing were stolen from the shop of Muhammad Maqsood.
- In Kamir’s Mohallah Sadiqabad, retired army officer Maqbool Ahmed’s house was looted of cash, jewelry, and a mobile phone worth Rs 3.169 million.
- In Dola Bala, a transformer worth Rs 200,000 was stolen from the tubewell of bank employee Syed Murattab Ali.
- In Mir Dad Muafi, burglars took cash and jewelry worth Rs 2.35 million from trader Muhammad Rafiq’s house.
- In Chak 1/10-L, two goats worth Rs 130,000 were stolen from the house of Syed Javed Mehdi, a stenographer at the Anti-Terrorism Court.
- In Chak 39/12-L, jewelry worth Rs 300,000 was stolen from the house of Advocate Syed Afzal Hussain Naqvi.
- In Chak 100/12-L, inverters and other items worth Rs 375,000 were taken from farmer Abdul Rehman’s house.
- At Adda Iqbal Nagar, cash and a mobile phone worth Rs 150,000 were stolen from farmer Muhammad Rafiq’s residence.
Police officials confirmed that 14 separate cases have been registered on the complaints of the affected individuals, and investigations are currently underway. However, no arrests have been made so far.
The complainants include Muazzam Ali, Abid Ali, Azhar Khan, Muhammad Ikram, Wasif Ali, Usman Manzoor, Muhammad Maqsood, Maqbool Ahmed, Syed Murattab Ali, Muhammad Rafiq, Syed Javed Mehdi, Syed Afzal Hussain Naqvi, Abdul Rehman, and Muhammad Rafiq.
Residents have urged the police to enhance patrolling and take effective measures to curb the rising crime wave in the region.
