CHICHAWATNI (Sahiwal News – City Press Club): A sugarcane-laden trolley went out of control on the Chichawatni overhead bridge and plunged off the bridge, causing severe traffic congestion in the area.
According to details, an overloaded trolley carrying sugarcane lost balance on the overhead bridge after the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the trolley falling off the bridge. Following the accident, several other sugarcane-loaded trolleys became stranded on the bridge, leading to a long queue and a complete traffic jam.
Reports suggest that the bridge’s safety wall and structural components also sustained damage. Fortunately, the driver miraculously escaped unhurt. Local residents stated that the trolley was excessively overloaded, which made it difficult for the driver to control the vehicle while negotiating the turn.
Members of the public have expressed serious concern over the negligence of the traffic police and relevant departments, demanding immediate and effective action against overloading to prevent the loss of precious lives in the future.
