Sahiwal Police Arrest 4 Youths for New Year’s Eve Firing and Fireworks

SAHIWAL (Crime Desk) – In a targeted crackdown against law violations during New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Sahiwal Police arrested four individuals for engaging in celebratory gunfire and illegal fireworks displays.
Midnight Arrest at Mazdoor Pulli
According to police reports, City Police apprehended a suspect identified as Ali Ejaz at approximately 1:00 AM near Mazdoor Pulli. The suspect was reportedly caught red-handed while firing into the air to celebrate the arrival of the new year. Police officials confirmed the recovery of a pistol from his possession.
Crackdown on Illegal Fireworks in Farid Town
Simultaneously, Farid Town Police conducted raids to curb illegal fireworks displays that posed a safety risk to the public:
Main Market: A youth named Muhammad Usman Sarwar was arrested for orchestrating a fireworks display.
Y-Block: Another suspect, Umar Zahir Cheema, was taken into custody for similar violations.
Large quantities of fireworks and firecrackers were seized during these operations.
Legal Action and Charges
The Sahiwal City and Farid Town police stations have formally registered cases against the accused under the following sections:
Section 13-2A of the Arms Ordinance (for illegal possession and use of weapons).
Section 337-H2 (for acts endangering life or personal safety of others).
The four suspects have been shifted to lockups, and further investigations are underway. Local authorities reiterated that a “zero-tolerance” policy remains in effect for any activities that disrupt public peace or endanger lives under the guise of celebration.
