Sahiwal: Man Shoots Sister Dead Over ‘Honor’ Following Mobile Phone Suspicion

SAHIWAL – A horrific incident of “honor” killing has shaken the Farid Town area, where a young man allegedly shot and killed his sister in Chak 86/6-R, Farid Colony, over the suspicion of her owning a mobile phone.
The Incident
The tragedy unfolded while the victim’s father, Riaz Ahmed, a local livestock trader, was away working at his cattle farm. According to reports, a domestic dispute erupted after the suspect’s mother, Irshad Bibi, informed her son, Fayyaz, that his sister, Sania, was secretly keeping a mobile phone and using it to speak with someone in private.
Upon hearing this, Fayyaz reportedly became enraged. He retrieved a firearm and fired two shots at Sania. The young woman sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot. Following the shooting, the suspect managed to flee the scene before authorities arrived.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
Sahiwal Police from the Farid Town station arrived at the scene shortly after the report was filed. They took custody of the body and shifted it to a local hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Current Status of the Case:
FIR Registered: Police have registered a case against Fayyaz under sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 311 (Fasad-fil-Arz/Honor Killing) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Complainant: The case was filed on the complaint of the victim’s father, Riaz Ahmed.
Search for Suspect: While raids are being conducted to apprehend the perpetrator, Fayyaz remains at large.
“We are utilizing all available resources to track down the suspect,” a police spokesperson stated. “Justice will be served in accordance with the law.”
