Sahiwal: Massive Heist at Green Bus Driver’s Residence; Maid and Husband Arrested

SAHIWAL – A festive atmosphere turned into a nightmare in Model Town, Sahiwal, after a domestic helper and her accomplices allegedly looted cash and jewelry worth over PKR 17.2 million from the house of a local bus driver.

The Incident

The victim, Ali Raza, a driver for the Green Bus service, was preparing for a double wedding in the family. His brother, who had recently returned from Dubai, and his sister were set to be married in a “Watta Satta” (exchange) arrangement.

Taking advantage of the busy wedding preparations, the family’s domestic helper, Sumaira, brought her husband, Abdul Wahid (alias Waqas Pappu), and five other women along with an unidentified man to the house, claiming they would assist with the wedding chores.

The Execution of the Theft

The robbery took place while the house was vulnerable:

  • The Departure: Ali Raza left for his professional duties on the Green Bus.

  • The Opportunity: His wife locked their main bedroom and headed to the market for wedding shopping.

  • The Discovery: Upon her return, she found the locks broken and the room ransacked.

The suspects reportedly fled with gold jewelry valued at PKR 16.65 million and PKR 630,000 in hard cash.

Police Action

The Ghala Mandi Police responded to the call and registered a case under sections 420 (cheating) and 380 (theft in a dwelling house) of the Pakistan Penal Code, based on Ali Raza’s complaint.

“We have successfully apprehended the primary suspect, Sumaira, and her husband, Abdul Wahid,” a police spokesperson stated. “Raids are currently being conducted to arrest the five female accomplices and the unidentified male suspect who remain at large.”

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are hopeful that the stolen assets will be recovered soon.
