A ceremony for distributing free tractors among farmers under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s “Grow More Wheat Campaign 2024-25” took place at the District Council Hall Sahiwal.
Officials distributed free tractors to 8 fortunate farmers from the Sahiwal district through a lucky draw.
Members of the Punjab Assembly Malik Qasim Nadeem, Muhammad Arshad Malik, and Rana Riaz Ahmed attended the event as chief guests.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Captain (R) Usama Majeed and Director Agriculture Chaudhry Shehbaz Akhtar was present at the ceremony. Deputy Director Agriculture Dr. Tahir Javed, Assistant Director Dr. Muhammad Aslam, and a large number of farmers also attended the event.
Addressing the ceremony, MPA Malik Qasim Nadeem said, “Providing free tractors guarantees the prosperity of farmers.”
He added, “The Punjab government is taking several initiatives for farmers’ welfare, including distributing free tractors, issuing Kisan Cards, and constructing Agri Malls.”
He praised Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s dedication and said that, God willing, Punjab will achieve a prominent position because of her efforts.
MPA Muhammad Arshad Malik said, “The Punjab government is following farmer-friendly policies and, for the first time in the province’s history, is providing free tractors to farmers.”
He added, “Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given these tractors as a gift to the farmers.”
Arshad Malik advised the winning farmers to support small-scale farmers as well so that they can make good use of the tractors.
He congratulated the Agriculture Department Sahiwal for ensuring a transparent and fair distribution process.
How Many Tractors Distributed Among Farmers?
On this occasion, Director Agriculture Chaudhry Shehbaz Akhtar said, “Farmers submitted a total of 210 applications under this campaign. We selected 8 lucky farmers through a draw to receive the free tractors.”
He added, “We are giving 2 tractors to farmers from Sahiwal Tehsil and 6 tractors to farmers from Chichawatni Tehsil.”
Farmers appreciated the facilities provided by the Punjab government and expressed hope that such efforts would further strengthen the agriculture sector.
