DPO Sahiwal Suspends SHO Ghaziabad Over Public Mistreatment Following Surprise Raid

SAHIWAL – Upholding the Punjab Government’s vision for a citizen-centric police force, District Police Officer (DPO) Sahiwal, Muhammad Usman Tippu, conducted a surprise raid at the Ghaziabad Police Station. The visit resulted in the immediate suspension of the Station House Officer (SHO) for negligence and misconduct.
Departmental Action and New Appointments
Following the mission of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to ensure “citizen-friendly policing,” DPO Muhammad Usman Tippu took strict notice of reports regarding unethical behavior and the mistreatment of visitors at the Ghaziabad station.
Suspension: SHO Ghaziabad, Sub-Inspector Khalil Ahmed, has been suspended from his post effective immediately due to proven misconduct.
New Appointment: Sub-Inspector Muhammad Kashif has been appointed as the new SHO of Ghaziabad Police Station and has been directed to assume charge at once.
A Zero-Tolerance Policy
During the raid, the DPO emphasized that the primary role of the police is to serve and protect, not to harass the public.

Official Police Statement
According to a spokesperson for the Sahiwal Police, the DPO has issued stern directives to all station heads across the district. Officers are required to treat every complainant with courtesy and respect.
The spokesperson further clarified that any official found abusing their authority or behaving inappropriately with citizens will face rigorous departmental disciplinary action.
