Lodhi Family Issue: Two Doctors Dismissed from Sahiwal Teaching Hospital

Two doctors were dismissed from Sahiwal Teaching Hospital after a dispute with MPA Naveed Lodhi’s family; inquiry remains pending amid protests.
According to details, on July 19, PML-N MPA Naveed Aslam Lodhi’s aunt-in-law with Ayesha Arshad Khan Lodhi, visited Sahiwal Teaching Hospital.
Hospital administration states that the woman insisted on getting an ultrasound done out of turn. She also complained about the bedsheet being dirty and demanded it be changed, and raised the issue of a missing pillow. Two female doctors labeled these concerns as administrative rather than medical issues, which led to a protest by the MPA’s personal assistant and others.
As a reaction to the incident, doctors arrived at the Teaching hospital Sahiwal the next day carrying pillows and bedsheets in protest.
Punjab Health Department Action on Sahiwal Teaching Hospital Incident
Following the incident, the Punjab Health Department terminated two doctors — Dr. Muhammad Fahad Ijaz and Dr. Malik Mudasar Yaseen — from service even before the completion of the inquiry.
After protests by young doctors against the dismissals, two female doctors, Dr. Kiran and Dr. Ayesha, were issued show-cause notices.
Two other doctors, Dr. Hamza Nazir and Dr. Ahmad Gujar, who protested on social media against VIP and corrupt culture, were also dismissed from their positions.
Punjab Chief Minister Inquiry Committee incomplete Report
So far, the inquiry committee formed by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has not submitted its report.
The committee, led by convener Hafiz Muhammad Waseem, was supposed to present its findings to the Chief Minister after conducting an investigation.
However, the committee was only able to record statements from MPA Naveed Aslam Lodhi’s family. The hospital staff and doctors refused to participate in the proceedings, causing the inquiry to stall.
Naveed Aslam Khan Lodhi Statement on Social Media
PML-N MPA from PP-201 Sahiwal, Naveed Aslam Khan Lodhi, also shared his stance on social media and raised three questions for the hospital administration:
- Why were unauthorized individuals present in the ultrasound room during another woman’s ultrasound?
- Why were under-training doctors allowed to perform tests on patients, in violation of medical regulations?
- Why are basic facilities like tissues, bedsheets, and pillows not available in the hospital? Who is responsible for this?
