Massive Transformation in Chichawatni: Rs. 5 Billion Sewerage Overhaul Underway

CHICHAWATNI (News Desk) – In a landmark move to modernize the city’s infrastructure, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sahiwal, Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq, alongside Assistant Commissioner Chichawatni, Javed Mumtaz Lakhwera, conducted a comprehensive field visit to review the progress of ongoing mega-development projects.
Under the Chief Minister Punjab Development Program, Chichawatni is witnessing its first-ever large-scale sewerage reconstruction project, valued at a staggering Rs. 5 billion.
Key Highlights of the Development Project
During the briefing, Municipal Officer Infrastructure Rizwan Ahmed Marth outlined the technical aspects of the transformation:
New Sewerage Network: Installation of 2-kilometer long high-capacity sewerage lines is moving at a rapid pace.
Rainwater Management: To prevent urban flooding, a dedicated 2-kilometer drain is being constructed specifically for rainwater disposal.
State-of-the-Art Disposal: A new disposal station with a massive capacity of 16 cusecs is being integrated into the system to ensure efficient drainage.
Directives for Timely Completion
Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq emphasized that there would be no compromise on the quality or the timeline of the work. He issued the following instructions to the relevant departments:
Strict Deadline: All development works must be completed by June 2026.
Flood Prevention: Preemptive measures must be finalized before the upcoming monsoon season to protect the city from urban flooding.
Field Monitoring: Officers have been directed to ensure personal on-site monitoring of all field activities.
Increased Workforce: Contractors have been ordered to increase their workforce to bypass any potential delays.
“Following the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab, we are ensuring that all preparations are finalized before the monsoon. Our goal is to provide a permanent solution to the drainage issues faced by the citizens of Chichawatni,” stated DC Sahiwal.
