DC Sahiwal Visits Ravi Bridge Chichawatni Amid Flood Threat

Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal Shahid Mehmood visited the Ravi Bridge located on Kamalia Road in Chichawatni. The purpose was to assess the situation regarding potential floodwaters and to inspect the protective embankments safeguarding the city.
He instructed the concerned officials to enhance monitoring efforts to ensure timely and effective measures in case of any potential flood surge.
DC Sahiwal emphasized that the district administration is fully alert and prepared to handle any flood situation and assured that citizens will not be left alone in any time of need.
During the visit, Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance & Planning Rana Aurangzeb, Assistant Commissioner Nargis Khatoon Jafri, and Chief Officer Municipal Committee Parvez Akhtar were also present.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mehmood also visited the newly constructed vegetable, fruit, and grain markets, as well as ongoing sewerage projects under the PICIIP (Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Program) on GT Road. He issued instructions to make these projects functional as soon as possible.
Shahid Mehmood directed the city manager of PICIIP to expedite the completion of the sewerage project to not only improve environmental conditions but also to eliminate traffic disruptions.
He stated that the timely completion of these important public welfare projects is a top priority for the district government so that citizens may benefit from better facilities and traders are provided with an organized business environment.
The Deputy Commissioner also inspected various sections of the markets and issued instructions to improve cleanliness, parking arrangements, and drainage systems.
DC Shahid Mehmood assured that these projects will soon start providing tangible relief to the public.
What is PICIIP?
Government of the Punjab is implementing Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Programme (PICIIP) in intermediate districts including Sahiwal, Sialkot, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi and Muzaffargarh with financial assistance of The Asian Development Bank (ADB).
PICIIP aims to improve the efficiency and financial sustainability of intermediate cities and effectiveness of urban services through water supply, sanitation, Sewerage system, sewage treatment, solid waste management, transport infrastructure, and up gradation of Punjab Local Government Academy Lalamusa and capacity development program.
