Sahiwal: Three-Day Punjab Taekwondo Championship Concludes; Commissioner Distributes Prizes

SAHIWAL – Commissioner Sahiwal Division, Dr. Asif Tufail, emphasized that attracting the younger generation toward sports is a vital necessity for their mental and physical development. Speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Three-Day Punjab Taekwondo Championship, he highlighted how sports like Taekwondo not only provide physical strength but also play a key role in building resilience against stress and teaching essential self-defense skills.
A Showcase of Talent and Skill
The vibrant three-day championship saw more than 160 boys and girls from across Punjab participating and demonstrating exceptional martial arts skills. The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials and dignitaries, including:

Ghulam Hussain Bhatti (Assistant Commissioner General)
Dr. Izhar-ul-Haq (Secretary, Taekwondo Association)

Government Initiatives and the Promotion of Sports
During his keynote address, Commissioner Dr. Asif Tufail detailed the provincial government’s priorities regarding athletic development.
“Over the past two years, the Punjab government has focused heavily on encouraging athletes and providing them with world-class facilities,” Dr. Tufail stated. “The administration will provide all possible support to promote Taekwondo at the school level to ignite interest in this sport among children from an early age.”
He also lauded the Punjab Taekwondo Association for their efforts in organizing the event and praised the high spirits and discipline shown by the young athletes.
Appointment of Patron-in-Chief and Traditional Honors
The event concluded with a traditional touch of honor. The Secretary of the Association, Dr. Izhar-ul-Haq, congratulated Commissioner Dr. Asif Tufail on his appointment as the Patron-in-Chief of the Association. As a mark of respect and leadership, the Commissioner was presented with a traditional “Honorary Turban” (Pagri).
Following the tributes, the Commissioner distributed trophies and certificates among the winning players and top performers, wishing them a bright and successful future in the world of sports.
