OKARA (News Desk) – A high-profile inter-district robber was apprehended in an injured condition following a shootout with the police in the Fatehpur area, within the jurisdiction of Gogera Police Station. The suspect was reportedly wounded by the firing of his own accomplices.
The Incident
The action was initiated after a distress call was received on the Pukar 15 helpline, reporting that armed dacoits were snatching a motorcycle and cash from citizens. Responding with professional urgency, a police team intercepted the suspects. Upon seeing the police, the dacoits opened fire, triggering a retaliatory exchange.
Arrest and Recoveries
During the crossfire, one dacoit, identified as Ashiq Ali, was shot and injured by a bullet fired by one of his fleeing partners. Police successfully moved in and arrested him. Law enforcement officials recovered the following from his possession:
The snatched motorcycle
Stolen cash
Illegal weaponry used in the crime
Criminal Background
Investigations revealed that Ashiq Ali is a hardened inter-district criminal. He has a significant criminal record and is wanted in over 12 cases of heinous crimes, including dacoity and highway robbery, across various districts including Lahore, Kasur, and Okara.
Current Status and Search Operation
The injured suspect was provided first aid by Rescue 1122 and shifted to DHQ Hospital Okara for further treatment. While two of his accomplices managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness, the Okara Police have cordoned off the area. A massive search operation and snap-checking are currently underway to track down the fleeing criminals.
A spokesperson for the Okara Police stated that operations against criminal elements will continue until the region is purged of such threats.
