Government announces subsidy and interest-free loans for electric rickshaws

Government of Pakistan has announced subsidy and interest-free loans for those who want to buy electric rickshaws
Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar, has announced the government’s new National Electric Vehicle Policy.
Under the government’s new National Electric Vehicle Policy, subsidies will be provided for electric rickshaws.
He stated that while a new rickshaw with an internal combustion engine costs around Rs. 400,000, the price of an electric rickshaw is almost double. To encourage the shift, the government will offer a subsidy of Rs. 400,000 and interest-free loans to buyers of electric rickshaws.
Under this scheme, 3,171 electric rickshaws will be made available. Similarly, a subsidy plan has also been prepared for small electric vehicles.
