Commissioner Sahiwal Approves Recruitment of New Teachers for DPS Cambridge Campus

SAHIWAL (News Desk): Commissioner Sahiwal Division, Dr. Asif Tufail, has formally authorized the recruitment of new teaching staff for the Cambridge Campus of Divisional Public School and College (DPS) Sahiwal. Presiding over a meeting of the Board of Trustees, the Commissioner emphasized that the campus is being developed into a premier educational institution where quality and merit remain the top priorities.
Strict Merit-Based Recruitment
During the meeting, Dr. Asif Tufail directed that the recruitment process for teachers must be strictly merit-based. He stated that salaries should be offered in accordance with educational qualifications and professional experience to attract the best available talent.
“To ensure the Cambridge Campus becomes a standard-setting institution, we must select teachers who are not only highly qualified but also experts in their fields,” the Commissioner remarked.
Modern Infrastructure and Smart Classrooms
The Board of Trustees approved the procurement of furniture, air conditioners, and other essential equipment for the newly constructed campus. Vice Principal Momina Ayzad briefed the board on the following upgrades:
Smart Education: All classrooms in the new campus will be air-conditioned and equipped with smart boards to facilitate modern teaching methodologies.
Capacity Building: Currently, 170 students are enrolled in O-Level classes; this number is planned to be gradually increased to over 500.
English Proficiency: It was made mandatory for prospective teachers to pass the British Council’s English Score Test to ensure high linguistic standards.
Academic Calendar and Admissions
The Vice Principal announced that the new academic session is scheduled to begin on April 13, while the admission process will commence toward the end of this month.
Teacher Welfare and Career Growth
Beyond recruitment, Commissioner Dr. Asif Tufail issued directives to safeguard the financial interests of existing staff. He urged the board to consider:
Developing an independent Pay Scale for the school.
Formulating a Promotion Policy for teachers based on their length of service and performance.

The high-level meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Coordination Dr. Saifullah Bhatti, Principal Akbar Ali, Vice Principal Momina Ayzad, former Principal Brig (R) Syed Anwar-ul-Hassan Kirmani, and board members including Ch. Sultan Mahmood, Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, Dr. Shehzad Tahir, Sheikh Muhammad Basharat Nadeem, and others.
