SAHIWAL – A horrific incident has come to light in the Purani Lakar Mandi area of Sahiwal, where two young men allegedly gang-raped their 14-year-old friend, filmed the assault, and left him unconscious outside his home. Police have confirmed the arrest of both named suspects.
Details of the Incident
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by Khadija Niaz, the victim’s mother, the events unfolded as follows:
The Lure: On the night of May 3, at approximately 9:00 PM, the victim, Muneeb-ur-Rehman, was called out of his house by two friends, Muhammad Usman Qureshi and Hamid Ali Hami, on the pretext of playing snooker.
The Disappearance: When the boy failed to return by 1:00 AM, his parents began a frantic search.
The Assault: The suspects allegedly took the student to a secluded location where they subjected him to gang-rape. During the assault, the perpetrators recorded a video of the act.
The Abandonment: The suspects later dropped the victim off at his front gate in critical condition and fled the scene.
Medical Examination and Disclosures
The family rushed Muneeb to a local hospital, where a medical examination confirmed the sexual assault. Upon regaining consciousness, the victim recounted the harrowing ordeal, stating that both suspects took turns assaulting him and used physical violence when he attempted to resist.
Police Action and Charges
Initially, the Fateh Sher Police Station reportedly maintained silence regarding the case. However, following public pressure and legal advocacy six days after the incident, a formal case was registered.
Legal Charges:
The police have invoked the following sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC):
Section 376: Punishment for Rape/Gang-Rape.
Section 292: Production and distribution of obscene material (relating to the video recording).
Current Status:
The SHO of Fateh Sher Police Station confirmed that a raid was conducted, resulting in the arrest of both named suspects, Usman Qureshi and Hamid Ali. An investigation is currently underway to gather further evidence.
