Commissioner Sahiwal Division, Dr. Asif Tufail paid a surprise visit to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital. Principal of Sahiwal Medical College accompanied him.
Dr. Asif Tufail, has stated that providing quality medical treatment to the public is one of the government’s top priorities. He said that substantial funds are being spent in the health sector to ensure better medical facilities for every citizen.
Commissioner Sahiwal expressed these views during a surprise visit to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital. Principal of Sahiwal Medical College, Professor Dr. Muhammad Akhtar, and Medical Superintendent Dr. Yadullah accompanied him during the visit.
The Commissioner inspected various departments including the Emergency Room, Medical Emergency, Blood Bank, Orthopedic Ward, and Pharmacy, and reviewed the facilities being provided to the patients.
Dr. Asif Tufail directed the hospital administration to ensure that all incoming patients receive free medicines under all circumstances and that no one should be forced to purchase medicines from outside.
He visited patients admitted in the wards and also inquired from their attendants about the availability of medicines. The Commissioner emphasized that the medical profession is a noble calling and doctors should serve patients with a sense of devotion and duty.
He also checked the stock of medicines available in the pharmacy and issued clear instructions that all essential medicines must remain available at all times. If any medicine is in short supply, it must be reported immediately to ensure its timely provision.
Dr. Asif Tufail affirmed that no effort will be spared in providing healthcare facilities to the public and that the health sector will continue moving toward further improvement.
